Katie Sandwisch, ThunderRidge High School

Here is some special information about my experience in DI!

Information about how long I’ve been in DI, the roles I’ve had in DI, the regions I’ve been connected to, etc.:

My “Home Region” = South Metro

8 active years in the program. Four years as a participant from 3-6th grade. Won Renaissance awards, won districts twice and participated in fine arts, community service and improv. Served as leader in each team. Four years on the teen leadership team.

Special memories, experiences, etc. related to my time in DI:

As a participant I loved winning districts twice and participating in state all four years. My favorite memory was attending globals in Knoxville when I was in 6th grade. It was incredible to meet so many kids from all over the nation and the world. We had a Chinese buddy team in which we shared gifts, cheered each other on & learned about their culture. I loved pin trading, staying in the hotel with my team, attending the duct tape ball, and touring Knoxville and being on the receiving end of southern hospitality.

On the leadership team, I enjoyed getting to know other teens with different backgrounds from across the state. We had fun planning and leading DI after dark. Everyone is so kind, collaborative & creative.

Here are some photos I wanted to share with you about my experience in DI. I hope you enjoy them!
