2022 State Tournament: What Should We Do Prior to the Tournament?

Have a brief team/parent meeting to discuss competition logistics such as:

    • Travel plans, if you are coming from outside the Denver Metro area
    • Transporting props to the tournament
    • Location and possible times of Team Challenges and Instant Challenge competitions
    • T-shirt and pin purchases
    • Meal plans for the day
    • Where and when the team should meet on competition day
    • Unloading/parking/loading plans
    • Behavioral expectations of Team Members, Team Managers, and parents
    • Back up plans if you get separated or if the competition runs late
    • The Awards Ceremony
    • Emergency Contact Information

Talk with your parents, school, and school district about the possibilities of placing at the Affiliate Championship Tournament and earning an invitation to Global Finals.

      1. Talk with your parents, school, and school district about the possibilities of attending Global Finals.

As has been discussed, all teams have received an invitation to compete at Global Finals. Your school, school district or parents may have a requirement for your teams to attend (For example, in order to get financial help from your district, your team must place in the top four. Or your team decides they are only going to Global Finals if they finish in the top six). Discuss how your team might arrange quick financing to Global Finals held in Kansas City, Mo., May 21-24, 2022, with arrival on the 19th or 20th.  Your cost per team will be $5,500 plus room and board. This should average to $1500 per student and adult traveling for teams with 2 team managers and 5 team members. Most years DICO invites the top four in each level and challenge if that helps you to make your decision. From my experience, any Colorado team in the top six will be competitive at Global
