Challenge

Your challenge is to make something a Yeti would love and then perform a rhyming skit which includes at least one Yeti and it’s lovie.

Time: 6 minutes total

• 4 minutes to make your Yeti’s lovie and plan your skit.
• 2 minutes to preform your skit

The Scene:

Yetis are large hairy creatures resembling a bear, said to live in the Himalayas where it is very, very cold. Make up a skit about your Yeti and it’s lovie. By the way…. your skit must include rhymes!

Procedure:

• Part One (2minutes): Make your Lovie, plan your skit, remember your skit need to rhyme.
• Part Two (4 minutes): perform your skit for your family

Materials

• 2 pieces of colored paper
• 5 mailing labels
• 4 craft sticks
• 1 piece of fabric (size of your choice)
• 1 sheet of foil paper
• Newspaper

Provided but not included in your skit: colored markers, scissors and a pencil

Scoring:

• Up to 20 points for the creativity of the rhyming during your performance
• Up to 20 points for the creativity of your Yeti
• Up to 20 points for the creativity of your Lovie
• Up to 20 points for the creativity of your performance
• Up to 20 points for how creatively you solved the overall challenge

Do Ahead

Collect the following materials:

• 2 pieces of colored paper
• 5 mailing labels

Debrief – After the team has finished discuss the following:

• What kind of problems did you encounter when you made the Lovie?
• How could you have used your materials differently?
• What kind of problems did you encounter when you made your skit?
• Did you finish planning in time?
• What could you have done differently?
• All good stories have a beginning, middle and an end. Did your story have all three parts?
• Did your story have rhyming?

Follow Up:

• Using the same materials, repeat the challenge after the debriefed. This gives them the opportunity to apply any corrections discussed during the debrief time.
• Do the challenge again using different materials.
